Archive for Wednesday 7th August 2002 - The Naked Leader
In his new book, Naked Leader, David Taylor aims to strip bare current
business thinking of all the hype and promote his belief that we are all
leaders and can get what we want out of life. In his work with blue chip
companies he has noticed a sea change in attitude in the corporate world over
the last ten years: meaning now comes before money.
Taylor says: “With the current collapse of trust in big business, people want
answers to the big questions – who are we and why are we here?” He
encourages his students to ‘centre’ themselves in the way practised by
martial arts experts. All great leaders have mastered this – and everyone is
capable of discovering it.
Meditation is a key tool too. But does he recommend it to his corporate
clients? “Yes, but I don’t call it that. As ‘structured relaxation’ I have
found it can change their lives too.”
He is totally confident in his belief: “Everything you need to become
anything you want is already within you. We are all born with equal potential
and when that potential is unleashed we can truly astound ourselves.” His
book is structured to take readers on their own personal journey through it
by following recommended pathways. It is the first ‘business’ title to adopt
fully techniques usually found on the ‘mind-body-spirit’ section of
bookshops.
