That’s where Rohana Darlington, of Age Concern, works as manager of creative activities programmes for patients in the rehabilitation, orthopaedic and psychiatric wards. Encouraged to provide stimulating programmes for patients, Rohana, a trained astrologer, regularly features horoscope sessions. Writing in a newsletter published by the Astrological Association, Rohana says: "I plan activities so they cover a truly holistic range. We cover arts and crafts, music and movement, local history and cooking. I feature astrology regularly in my ‘Something Different Spot’. Astrology is developing as one of our most popular activities. We usually start with Sun signs. As patients become interested I print out their birth charts on my computer at home. If they wish I can do one-to-one bedside chart interpretations sessions, all free on the NHS! Many patients say that their stay in hospital has been so much more enjoyable than they ever imagined."
