PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
April 9th to April 15th 2007

MONDAY April 9
2012 Letters

Dear Jonathan, By 2012, the Kyoto agreement says we are supposed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. If we fail, we'll be in big trouble. Maybe the Mayans foresaw global warming. Susan

Dear Jonathan, My passport runs out in 2012. So what? The Mayan calendar probably just needs renewing! Jane

Dear Jonathan, According to some websites, we'll soon learn what 'the fifth dimension' is all about because aliens will start interrupting our TV programmes to explain it to us. Tim

Dear All, I'm off to the Himalayas tomorrow to ask the Tibetans what they think. I'll report back here, shortly.

TUESDAY April 10
Saturn hexagonal comment

Jonathan writes: Why am I travelling to Tibet to investigate a prophecy from Mexico? It has something to do with ancient cultures, complicated cosmologies and poignant predictions. On my way north east, I passed through Delhi where there is a temple dedicated to Saturn. Word has not yet reached them there about the newly discovered hexagon at Saturn's North Pole. I, though, have been dwelling on this. The Star of David is hexagonal. Could Saturn have a message about the future of Israel?

THURSDAY April 12
The 365 steps of the Monkey Temple

Jonathan writes: Recently in Mexico, I explored an ancient Mayan temple. The pyramid has four sides, each with 91 steps. The top of the pyramid has a further step all the way round. That makes 365; one for each day of the year. Yesterday, I visited a place of similar vintage in Nepal. The Buddhist 'Monkey Temple' also has 365 steps but in one straight line. Between these two cultures, the similarities are much more impressive than the differences.

FRIDAY April 13
The 365 steps of the Monkey Temple contd..

As you can see from the picture to the right, I'm still trying to climb the 365 steps of the Monkey Temple in Nepal.

SATURDAY April 14
Back from Tibet

By the time you read this, I should be on my way back from Tibet. Since I began to explore the ancient Mayan prophecy about an end to the world in 2012, I have felt obliged to learn all I can about other predictions, made as long ago, in different parts of the world. The Tibetans are famously a psychic nation. They see psychic visions, cast prophetic horoscopes, appoint official oracles and base government decisions on simple divination. Since their land was invaded by China, many now live in exile. Still though, fascinating predictions emanate from the sacred city of Lhasa. Soon, I'll tell you more about what this amazing place reveals about the future of the world!
