Are you enjoying the summer?

Are you enjoying the summer? I am. Iím enjoying the long evenings with plenty of light, which seem somehow to let me put more into each day; even though I know I could work by electric light, somehow itís not the same. Or are you one of those people for whom all days are the same, and the seasons donít really matter? Even if you say yes, Iím not sure I believe you - because there is a personal annual cycle built into each one of us, and we live it whether we recognise it or not.

It works like this. Just as the seasons in Nature promote growth in spring and summer, followed by rest and recuperation in autumn and winter, so the path of the sun round your chart creates a similar cycle as it goes through the signs. Start it at your birthday. In the first three months after your birthday you should be starting new things and working hard. You will be busy, but you wonít have much to show for it. In the next three months youíre more familiar with what youíre doing, and you start to enjoy yourself. The third three months are also busy, but profitable; this is the peak of the cycle. The final three months are also profitable, but thereís no more work to be done - the harvest is over, and youíre selling the crop, as it were. This is also the time to be thinking about what you want to do in the following year. People born at the start of the year find that their personal year coincides with the actual seasons; others, of course, donít. Youíll probably find that your own favourite time of the year is either the third or fourth quarter of your personal year. Whichever way your personal year falls, make sure youíre doing the right thing at the right time, bringing yourself into line with the celestial rhythm. Not only does it make you feel better, but it will make you more successful, too.

That eclipse on Americaís Mars just keeps on going, doesnít it? Mars is not only the astrological symbol of war but also of fire, and in the U.S. chart it represents not just the actions of the government but also the land itself: mountains, forests, the lot. Right now there are some massive forest fires raging in Arizona. It all fits.

Research into Astrology and Infertility by Pat Harris, MSc., D.F.Astrol.S.

I would like to thank everyone who has responded to my earlier notices on Jonathan's website and who volunteered to take part in the research that I am conducting as part of my PhD in astrology and health psychology at Southampton University, UK. I now have quite a number of people taking part which will help me in conducting my study into factors that may or may not correlate with fertility treatment outcome. I should have a progress report out soon. However, I am still looking for women who are currently pregnant - not necessarily as a result of fertility treatment - and who would like to contact me about details of my research to see if they would like to take part. My email address is:

A few weeks ago, the Astrological Association of Great Britain launched this new, live fixed-fee, telephone chart reading service. It has since proved big hit with callers from all over the world. AA President Roy Gillett told Astro News: "I am delighted with the warm response that we have had. Once, if you wanted a reading of your full birth chart, you would have to struggle to find a genuine, reputable astrologer. Then, you would have had to make an appointment and travel miles. Now, at last, there's a quick and easy way to get your questions answered by a real expert - from the comfort of your own home." Mirror reader Julie Roberts from Rochester was equally enthusiastic. "I rang last Tuesday and spoke to an astrologer called Maria. Within moments, she was telling me details about my childhood that she could not possibly have known... then she said some fascinating things about my future.
