PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
December 24 2007 to December 31 2007

Monday December 24
A potent, powerful alignment

A Christmas comet. A triple conjunction of the Sun, Mercury and Jupiter. All directly opposite Mars and the Moon. A potent, powerful astrological alignment. Normally, on Christmas Eve, I write 'fun forecasts' to reflect the spirit of the season. I'm conscious, though, that many people this year, may find it all too easy to walk on emotional eggshells. So I'm keeping the predictions serious, here and on the phone lines as well. I wish you a wonderful holiday... wherever you are, whatever sign you are. And if, like me, you're a vegetarian... I wish you a nice nutroast, too!
Today's forecast's cover Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Jonathan will be back with fresh forecasts on 26th December.

Tuesday December 25
Oscar Peterson

Oscar Peterson was a Leo. He had a gently regal demeanour and played with panache typical of his sign. Every note range reflected infectious enthusiasm and he improvised with fiery courage. Leo is the traditional sign of 'talent' and Oscar's gift was the greatest kind of all; the type that 'gives' something to all who encounter it. I went to see him last year in Liverpool and then, two days later, in Birmingham. Even at a slightly shaky 81, he had more magic than many musicians ever muster. In my heart... and on my ipod, he will live forever.

2007 WD5

Over Christmas, several people have written to me, expressing concern about an imminent collision with an asteroid. They have misread or misheard news reports and think there's a chunk of space rock on its way later this week. It is, though, MARS that's at risk of an explosion. There's a one in 75 chance that the asteroid, known as 2007 WD5, could slam into the surface of the red planet, carving out a giant crater. If that happens, there will be deep symbolic inference for all with plans and ambitions for 2008... and for Aries and Scorpio-born people too.

Friday December 28
Benazir Bhutto

On December 10, I said Comet Holmes could signify the 'demise of a great leader'. I was hoping this would be wrong. Or that the leader in question would be great, as in 'terrible'. Or that it would be someone elderly whose departure was hardly unexpected. While it may signal the sudden loss of some other political giant, it's spooky how Holmes flared up out of nowhere so soon after Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan. It strongly suggests her legacy will be profound and powerful, not just in her homeland... but across the whole world.

Saturday December 29
Your Weekend

We ring in the New Year under the gently guiding light of a waning Libran quarter-moon. 2008, according to many pundits and prophets, is going to be a year of strife and struggle. The so-called experts are pouring forth a fountain of doom and gloom. Even some astrologers are pessimistic about Pluto's return to Capricorn. But we have had a comet in the cosmos this Christmas. That changes everything. For the better. Soon, we'll all see the positive proof!

Happy New Year

It seems some people are not looking forward to 2008. I keep hearing comments about a 'troublesome' year. There are concerns about stress, strife, unrest, upheaval, insecurity, conflict, recession, environmental disaster and 'general gloom'. Think, though, of all the years that have started off full of promise. Some have proved very disappointing. This one's the other way round. Looks tricky. Turns out good. No matter what's worrying you, once it gets properly under way, you'll have reason to feel more reassured... even inspired.
