PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

May 23 2011 to May 29 2011

Amazing Place

Dear Jonathan,
Iquitos. What a city! Those little motorised carts reminded me of Mr Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland! Cal

Dear Cal,
You mean the autorickshaws. I've ridden these across India and Thailand. But before Peru I'd never been on one at 70mph. How good it felt to be still alive once I got off!

Hi Jonathan,
Did you know The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield is set near Cusco, the part of Peru you visited. Did you gain many insights? Sheri

Dear Sheri,
Probably, I gained more insights from the book than the place. But it was still amazing.

Conception Misconceptions

Dear Jonathan,
I don't know if you found out much about Incan astrology - but I once had a birth reading from a Mayan elder. Interestingly, he assigned value to the time of my conception as well as my birth. Don

Dear Don,
I'm working now, on a video about my astrological interests in Peru, including those Nazca lines which, I notice, someone has organised into a zodiac. I'm not sure how much validity that has, though. Nor am I sure about conception charts. As I've remarked before, the real problem is: how does an astrologer verify such an event!

Wednesday May 25
Game Over

According to American preacher, Harold Camping, the world was supposed to end last Saturday evening at 6pm. I wonder, though, if all the righteous were to be suddenly spirited away, would the rest of us notice? I'm not sure if I know any righteous people! Mr Camping now thinks the end will come on October 21. Perhaps it has already come but we have gone into a form of collective denial. Maybe we are only dreaming? Or maybe I'm dreaming. Or maybe it's only you, dreaming that you're reading this? If you know how to tell, do write in.

It's Not the End of the World

For the record, it wasn't me who said the world would end last Saturday at 6pm. Back in 1999, I got hundreds of anxious letters because Nostradamus, allegedly, said we wouldn't reach the 21st century. Back in 1994, the letters were about Harold Camping, the same chap who told us to expect armageddon last weekend. He clearly has lots of exciting visions. I've never, personally, foreseen anything quite so final. Indeed, my own 'end of the world' prediction, is rather tame. We can expect many more doomy but meaningless dates to be bandied about over the next few millennia!

Friday May 27
Sight for Four Eyes

Planning a nice long lie in this weekend? I hope you enjoy it. But just in case you find yourself waking up early in the morning, remember where you last put your binoculars. Just before dawn, look East and you'll see the crescent moon. Below it in a line, you'll find first Jupiter, then Mars, next Venus and finally, just above the horizon, Mercury. In strict astrological terms, this is too wide to qualify as an exact quintuple conjunction... but it's a pretty impressive alignment with a nice clear message. The end of the world is far from nigh!

Saturday May 28
Your June Monthly Forecast

Two eclipses happen in June. To see the solar eclipse, on Wednesday 1st, you'll have to be pretty far north. To catch the lunar eclipse, you can probably remain where you are... though you may have to stay up late (and it is not visible from North America). To pick up the influence of an eclipse, it is not necessary to see it. You simply have to be willing to recognise that the cosmos is about to present the world with an amazing optical illusion... and be open to the idea that in your world too, an old illusion can be dispelled and a new one created!
