PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

May 16 2016 to May 22 2016

Monday May 16

The Purpose of Life

More Sally Fisher Art here.

Jonathan was preparing readings in advance. Over the coming days we will continue publishing those he was planning. We are also sharing Jonathan's inspiring quotes. Today, from December 2000:

'What is the purpose of life? The purpose of life is to seek the purpose of life. In doing so, you acknowledge that life must have a purpose, even if you are not so sure what it is. You open your mind to the possibility that you have something to learn and, in the very act of doing so, you start to become wiser; more able to discriminate between pretence and reality, falsehood and truth.'

Jonathan was preparing readings in advance. Over the coming days we will continue publishing those he was planning. We are also sharing Jonathan's inspiring quotes. Today, from August 2004:

'Philosophers love to debate the meaning of life. Some argue that it has no point: that all action is futile and ultimately meaningless. They think that we really are all, ultimately, nobodies with nothing to do. We can't prove that they are wrong. But nor, happily, can they disprove the beliefs of those with a more optimistic view. If you feel that something matters, it matters.'

Wednesday May 18

Purpose of the Paradox

Jonathan was preparing readings in advance. We will continue to publish those he was planning. We are also sharing Jonathan's inspiring quotes. Today, we return to June 2011:

'The meaning of life. What's the point? What's the purpose? ...It is not as if you are ever going to be able to answer a question like that! Some questions, though, don't need to be answered, they simply need to be asked. Why contemplate a paradox, when you could be considering a much more practical matter? Because you will make the best possible choice if you reach for the loftiest perspective.'

Interview with Oscar Cainer

Jonathan was preparing readings in advance. We will continue to publish those he was planning. We are also sharing Jonathan's inspiring quotes. Today, from April 2001: 'What is the purpose of life? ...Different people have different but equally strong views. Even the "don't knows" feel that "don't know" is the wisest possible reply. I would, though, like to list things that the purpose of life is not. It's not to make money. Nor is it to win battles. Remember that when you slowly acquire chances to do both. Accept them but remember: they are not the be-all and end-all.'

Friday May 20

Everlasting Love

More Sally Fisher Art here.

Jonathan was preparing readings in advance. We will continue to publish those he was planning. We are also sharing Jonathan's inspiring quotes. Today, from February 2007:

'Does love last forever? The Earth doesn't. The Sun doesn't. The galaxy doesn't. The universe itself? Well, we have to ask what infinity and eternity are powered by. What is the nature of the force that cannot be created and can never be destroyed? Is that not love in its purest form? Live for the moment, by all means. But live for all moments that have ever been and that ever will be. Then you'll make an impressive connection that you never forget.'

Your Week Ahead

More Sally Fisher Art here.

Jonathan prepared these forecasts well ahead of publication. We will continue to publish those he had completed.

On and off, over the past few months, Jupiter and Saturn have been forming one of the right angles they famously make periodically in their 20-year cycle. They pull back from that alignment, due to retrograde motion then they repeat it. Each time, life becomes a little more intense for a while, after which it seems as if we all breathe a huge sigh of relief. The last few weeks have echoed this pattern. The last Jupiter/Saturn square in the current sequence completes this week. Once it does things start to look much brighter for almost everyone.

Your Week Ahead - Love Focus

Jonathan prepared his forecasts well ahead of publication. We continue to publish those he had completed. We are also sharing some of Jonathan's inspiring quotes. Here, from October 2006:

'We get upset when people die. Not least, because their passing reminds us of our own inevitable destiny. Yet what if you were told that you could live forever? Surely, that would be truly tragic. Outlive all your friends and contemporaries? Then who would you have left to relate to? Treasure what you've got, while you've got it. Treasure what's changing, too.'
