PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

May 15 2017 to May 21 2017

Monday May 15

Seeds of Happiness

Tomorrow, Mercury moves into Taurus and, at the weekend, will be 'leaving the shadow'. This is when a planet starts to furrow new pastures, having made up the ground it lost while apparently moving backwards across the sky. Mercury isn't the only planet to mark this milestone. Venus will be marking her own equivalent event with an opposition to Jupiter on Friday. It's time to tend to our psychological gardens. With care and attention, the seeds of happiness we plant now, will thrive.

Ox Tales

Yesterday, I used floral analogies in the astrological thoughts for the day. Mercury, though, is entering Taurus, an earth sign. I ought not to forget about fauna. Taurus is the sign of the Ox - a strong, stable and (I'm informed) delicious beast. Being a fourth generation vegetarian, I can't attest to that last claim. But I can stand by the claims I made in March, the last time Mercury passed this way. We'll begin to find more practical ways to get what we want, and enjoy what we have.

A Clearer Picture

On Friday, there's an auspicious meeting in the heavens as Saturn makes a harmonious trine with Uranus. Part of what makes this special is its rarity: both these planets move slowly around the zodiac. Similarly today, two of the other slow giants, Jupiter and Neptune, make an important connection. It may be a minor aspect, but it will only happen once again in the next 10 years. It's time to forgive ourselves for any mistakes we've made. They're helping us paint a clearer picture.

Thursday May 18

Teething Troubles

Tomorrow marks the return of Saturn's harmonious link with Uranus. Although these two planets sometimes seem at odds, together they encourage us to reaffirm our commitment to a psychological awakening, and see an important change through to its conclusion. Any new endeavour is bound to have teething troubles, so you may find yourself having to call upon strengths you thought you wouldn't need to use again so soon. But 2017's Saturn-Uranus aspects won't return for another thirty years. Surely they justify any effort?

Balancing Act

Today, Venus opposes Jupiter ahead of the Sun entering Gemini this weekend. It presents us with an interesting balancing act between head and heart. On one hand, we're being encouraged to explore our emotional desires and encourage our feelings to develop. At the same time, matters of the mind will demand our attention. But these bedfellows don't have to be strange. They needn't work at a tangent or cross-purposes. In fact, it's through skilfully articulating emotion that our greatest opportunities now present themselves.

Your Week Ahead

This week the themes of power and control seem to permeate throughout the heavens. Pluto, the planet that embodies these characteristics, links both to Venus and to Gemini's New Moon. But although this dark and distant planet may revel in the absence of the Moon's light, it's not all doom and gloom. Mercury is leaving its shadow and allowing us to focus on new ideas with fresh perspective. If you feel pulled about like a puppet, just remember Pinocchio. With a pure heart, we can tug our own strings.
