PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

January 8 2018 to January 14 2018

Monday January 8

Food for Thought

I love the expression, 'to have eyes bigger than your stomach'. We've all been there and done that recently! There's a good chance that many of us are living with the consequences of over-indulging in chocolate or pudding or pie. Why can't we learn to stop before the dessert? I'm still waiting for the answer! So how about a cosmic explanation? Last weekend Mars and Jupiter combined in Scorpio for the first time since 1982. Without biting off more than we can chew, life is presenting an all-you-can-eat buffet of opportunity. Dig in!

Treasure Hunt

My son has become a keen cartographer. Over the holidays, we used tea bags to stain scrap paper and created pirate treasure maps. Now, he uses felt-tip pens to draw swirling patterns that lead to imaginary treasure. Hot on the heels of the Mars-Jupiter conjunction, the Sun, Venus and Pluto all converge with one another today, more tightly than they have for hundreds of years. I can't promise buried treasure, but the discoveries will be valuable, transformational and real!

Wednesday January 10

You Know What With You Know Who

We're often told that 'it's not what you know, it's who you know'. But an old teacher of mine used to go one step further. He said 'it's not what you know, or who you know, but what you do with who and what you know'. It might not be quite as pithy but it's probably more accurate. Yesterday's triple conjunction was a rare and wonderful event. But Mars has also been making encouraging angles with the main cosmic players. It's time to act on the impetus we've been given.

Thursday January 11

Milliganesque

'I'm walking backwards for Christmas, across the Irish Sea!" sang the late, great Spike Milligan. To his admirers, just about the only thing Spike couldn't do was walk on water - at least not backwards! His words seem appropriate today as Mercury, having finished its retrograde movement on the weekend before the festivities, leaves the shadow and enters Capricorn. In its new home, even if we act a bit silly, creativity and wit will be taken seriously and appreciated.

Friday January 12

Dear Prudence

Here's a bit of old news: mindful Mercury will soon converge with stoical Saturn, repeating the celestial alignment it made when retrograde last year. Meanwhile, Venus and the Sun make a tense link with revolutionary Uranus. It's an open secret that the universe sometimes throws up celestial oxymorons. This is a time when we seem to be refusing to see alternatives, while our hearts cry out for change. But, there really is a way to get what we want this weekend. It involves being both prudent and progressive.

Your Week Ahead

An encouraging alignment between Jupiter and Pluto is forming. These two planets engage positively three times in 2018, providing a backdrop of spiritual growth and seismic transformation to the year. With Jupiter on the final leg of its journey home to Sagittarius, Pluto is the hidden power behind the final push of the marathon. Whether we're as fit as a fiddle, or as bottom heavy as a double-bass, this isn't a time to sit back. The New Moon will help us visualise new milestones. If we dig deep, we'll find a way forward.

Sunday January 14

Your Week Ahead - Love Focus
