PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

June 18 2018 to June 24 2018

True to the Trail

After its tense relationship with Uranus at the weekend, imaginative Neptune begins its annual retrograde motion. When planets appear to move backwards across the sky, they help us revisit issues that will benefit from a second look. But, just as it's not easy to recall last night's dreams in the glare of the midday sun, some footsteps are hard to re-trace. Neptune's move suggests that, although there will be some clouds in the water, with the ground a little softer, we can begin to pick up the trail.

Fall Guy

I was lucky enough to visit Niagara Falls recently. As I watched the water falling below me, then billowing up high, it was a clear reminder of the incredible power that nature bestows on us. Near the waterfall there are several hydraulic dams that convert the energy generated by the river into electricity, which powers the nearby homes. As Mercury moves into a Grand Trine with Jupiter and Neptune, it creates a source of adventurous power that can be used to galvanise change. We simply need to harness it.

The Circle Line

When Venus and Mars oppose each other at the Solstice, it's as if they're at opposite ends of a barn, in a dance that repeats every other year. They create a tumultuous energy; when we have to balance a sense of urgency and action with diplomacy and charm. It's not easy being kind when you're feeling frustrated, and it's difficult to be assertive when you're feeling calm. But with wise, optimistic Jupiter calling the moves between the two, as long as we're big and bold, we can grow into a role that will square this circle.

Happy Solstice!

At my local market last weekend a DJ was playing reggae music to the crowd in the afternoon sun. After one particularly groovy number a woman with a microphone shouted "when the tune is this nice, we play it twice!" and the man behind the decks spun the record again. Our celestial Master of Ceremonies has a similar policy when it comes to the Solstice - and today's is looking so nice, whatever it brings you'll want to play it twice!

Sun Salutation

The Solstice doesn't just mark the turning point of the Sun's journey across our skies. The effects are born out in our lives, too. This weekend, our brightest star works with Uranus to create the change required to drive progress forward. Then, Mercury's opposition with Pluto will help us to recognise the potential for transformation. In times like these, it's easy to feel as if life is out of control. But with focus and courage there's nothing on the horizon that doesn't have a hidden advantage just waiting to be discovered.

Your Week Ahead

More Sally Fisher Art here.

Mercury speeds through Cancer this week and arrives in Leo. Meanwhile, Mars, the planet of speed, slows down to a stop before turning backwards in the sky. These two planets symbolise the tension playing out in all our lives. We may be keen for instant solutions and short-term gains, but with the Full Moon in Capricorn, we're unlikely to be satisfied by what these achieve. This week brings an opportunity to see the bigger picture, correct silly errors, and take decisive action. Any long-term plans can be reassuringly reinforced.
