PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

December 2 2019 to December 8 2019

Monday December 2

Wild Ride

The past year, with Jupiter journeying through Sagittarius, has been a wild ride. It's as if we've been exploring different paths, but were unable to wholeheartedly commit to following any of them. Although Jupiter is eternally optimistic, sometimes it encourages us to consider more options than necessary. As it enters Capricorn today, the scattergun approach is changing; we can begin to consolidate and focus on what we can realistically achieve. The opportunity for self-improvement is high.

Fair Winds

Heroes of the silver screen often seem to make their own luck. Yet, when we consider sports stars, the maxim, 'the harder we practise, the luckier we get', is true. As lucky Jupiter settles into disciplined Capricorn, we won't benefit from its fair winds unless we hoist our sails. We're being presented with an opportunity for growth that could lead to great success and considerable prestige. But, in order to take full advantage, we must take charge of the situation and work to maximise its potential.

Close but No Cigar?

The ancient gods punished evil Tantalus by tying him to a tree in a pool of water. Even though the water reached his neck, each time he stooped to drink it, the level dropped. When he reached for a pear on the branch just above him, the wind blew it out of his reach. The link between Venus and Mars suggests the probability of tantalisingly close, yet forbidden temptations. Yet Pluto and Mercury suggest that by looking deeper, we'll find a predicament is far from being as hopeless as it seems.

The Turning of the Tide

Hi Oscar,
Although Mercury has been moving forward since November 20, it doesn't leave its 'shadow' until the weekend. Does that mean we need to wait for the tide to turn? Bhakti

Hi Bhakti, The turning of the tide is hard to pinpoint. It's a process that ebbs and flows; and even once it has turned, the ocean waves take time to come back up the shore. Mercury is helping us to solve persistent problems. As it leaves the 'shadow' it will enable us to leave those problems behind and move on. Yours, Oscar

Transcendence

This weekend, Neptune, the planet of dreams, empathy, imagination and transcendence, makes an encouraging link with kind, caring, attractive Venus. This alone is enough to set hearts a fluttering. But the fact that Neptune also makes a dynamic link to the Sun underlines the power of this influence. It suggests that emotional issues are coming to a head. Yet as long as we remain sensitive, this needn't be painful. It will be easier to let go of feelings that are more trouble than they're worth.

Your Week Ahead

Sometimes we need to show tough love. And sometimes, love itself is tough. Caring deeply about people (or issues) is not for the faint-hearted. As Venus converges with Saturn, it encourages us to consider where we're emotionally investing our hearts and souls. With the Full Moon linking to sensitive Neptune, bringing the chance to gently let go of situations that no longer serve us. This week holds the potential to shed the skin that's stopped us growing and emerge as butterflies.
