PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

January 20 2020 to January 26 2020

Monday January 20

Let it Shine

In Aesop's fable, the Sun and the Wind are both trying to remove someone's coat. As the wind blows harder, the person wraps up even more tightly; then, the Sun shines warmly and the coat is voluntarily removed. The Sun enters Aquarius today, following Mercury's recent sharp link with the sign's ruler Uranus. It suggests a 'my way or the highway' mentality, with the urge to form like-minded teams. Instead of harsh words gusting about, if we lead by example, we'll find warm, appreciative support.

One for the Team

As Saturn and Pluto slowly continue to move apart, Venus makes tricky connections with both planets. Following yesterday's link with Pluto, it aligns with Saturn today. This renewed planetary focus on the Saturn-Pluto conjunction reactivates some issues we've faced recently; the focus now is on fairness and creativity. We may need to 'take one for the team'. But a powerful gesture will not easily be forgotten.

Wednesday January 22

Peace and Progress

Although the Sun makes a dynamic link with Uranus tomorrow, it may take time before we really feel the repercussions of this alignment. That's because the Moon is about to become new in Aquarius... an exciting development which brings new possibilities and better paths forward. But it's not going to be an easy ride. As the Sun links with Neptune, we may have to be careful about whose feathers we ruffle. With sensitivity, the difficult balance between peace and progress can be delicately struck.

Think Positive

When I'm tired, hungry or worried, I can experience a 'sense of humour failure'. It's particularly prevalent when people seem to be enjoying themselves! The temptation is to bring others down to my level. I can't count the number of times that's made me feel better - because it never has! No matter how difficult things might seem, we can't abandon joy or encourage misery. The New Moon calls for a different approach, with Venus and Jupiter encouraging us to take a chance on positivity.

Friday January 24

Year of the Rat

More Sally Fisher Art here.

It's New Year's Eve in China, as the New Moon marks the start of the Year of the Rat. In the West, rats have a bad press, maybe because of that bubonic plague thing. But that's a little unfair. In China, rats are traditionally associated with wealth, wit, flexibility and vitality. We should really blame the flea for the virus, and not shoot the furry messenger! So, as the New Moon arrives this weekend, we should be alert to new opportunities, and excited about the start of the new cycle it heralds.

Saturday January 25

Your Weekly Horoscope

More Sally Fisher Art here.

The start of 2020 involved making some hard decisions... and even though our efforts were worthwhile, smiling through adversity takes its toll. So it's with open arms that we're able to welcome this week's meeting between Venus and Neptune; their sensitive, emotionally cathartic embrace is made even more passionate by the link to Mars. This is an opportunity to let go of pain and, as the Chinese New Year arrives this weekend, move onwards and upwards with kindness and compassion.

Sunday January 26
