PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

May 10 2021 to May 16 2021

Monday May 10

Having your Cake

They say you can have too much of a good thing. But surely that's only true if we use up the good thing in one go? Surely we can avoid over-egging our pudding by making it bigger and saving some for later! The link between Venus, the planet of pleasure, and lavish Jupiter, encourages growth relating to pleasurable pursuits. And, as this week's Taurean New Moon enables us to distinguish what we want from what we need, diverse, intelligent and creative ways to satisfy cravings will emerge.

Tuesday May 11

Eat What You Want Day

The Moon is new in Taurus, the sign associated with material pleasure. It's also, appropriately, Eat What You Want Day, which encourages gluttony and greed. As someone who's no stranger to the tyranny of the bathroom scales, it's important not to get too carried away. We all have times when our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. Fortunately the New Moon encourages a healthier relationship with physical desires. It's time to narrow our gaze rather than widen our waistlines!

Wednesday May 12

Lady of the Lamp

When Florence Nightingale visited the frontlines of the Crimean War, hospital fatality rates were around 60 per cent. Once she'd revolutionised their working practices they were greatly reduced. On International Nurses Day, a powerful cosmic climate indicates that sticking to ideas and following through on passions will bring positive change. The Lady Of The Lamp had to fight for the right to make a difference. As Jupiter heads towards Pisces, compassion mixed with determination will benefit us all.

Thursday May 13

Jupiterian Jolliness

Today, Jupiter returns to Pisces for the first time in eleven years. Although it's only dipping its toes into the waters, before returning for a longer stay next year, we shouldn't underestimate this gift. It encourages our ability to be creative, to understand what's morally right, and gives us faith in inspiring visions. It would be easy to get carried away with it all. But while it's important to stay grounded, after the past year, there's nothing wrong with celebrating the fact that hope can become part of our reality.

Friday May 14

Pisces Party

Jupiter's entry into Pisces is a rare event in itself, but the fact Pisces now hosts both its co-rulers for the first time since 1856 adds extra spice. Jupiter's presence suggests changes in style of governments. Its previous visits (in 2010 and 1998) occurred as a new party took control of parliament in the UK. With the Piscean penchant for letting go and moving on, it also bodes well for any relaxations of lockdown rules. We can be cautiously optimistic about feeling less restricted - both emotionally and physically!

Saturday May 15

Your Weekly Horoscope

More Sally Fisher Art here.

This week, as Jupiter roams through Pisces like a horse that has been freed from its saddle, it encourages us to imagine, explore, and break through boundaries. Yet reins don't only restrict us; they help guide us towards worthwhile destinations. As the Sun enters Gemini and links with Jupiter, we can harness enthusiasm and creativity. Saturn's slowdown, before turning retrograde next weekend, indicates that gentle forwards motion will prove more rewarding than an all-out stampede.
