PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

Feeling Good

People experience the same events very differently to one another. Where one person might feel outshone by someone else's achievements, somebody else might appreciate being out of the limelight. As Mercury aligns with Jupiter, there's no denying the feelgood factor it brings as it moves out of the shadow, following its period in retrograde. With the approaching Solstice adding energy to the celestial mix, it's time to think big and be optimistic. Secrets to success aren't as hidden as they appeared to be.

Happy Solstice!

Since the Queen's Platinum Jubilee the royals have barely left the headlines. Today, on the Solstice, it's William's birthday. So does that make it (royal) etiquette to celebrate the Solstice like a king? Even though the current economic climate's making most of us feel less like royalty than ever, like William, we can look forward to more empowering times ahead. The Solstice reminds us that no matter how low we sink, or how high we rise, trials are temporary and successes should be enjoyed.

Foolish Love

'Love makes fools of us all', said writer William Makepeace Thackeray. He may be right. But I'd put money on the fact that he didn't pen these words while Venus was entering Gemini! As the love planet changes signs, our hearts are being upgraded from old Nokia handsets to state-of-the art smart phones! We can love better, be more creative and communicate with greater clarity. Of course, it's the content of our messages that matters most. The Solstice indicates that caring deeply is the only sensible thing to do.

Tin Man

Since the inception of automatons, humans have characterised robots as being incapable of emotion. Yet, when the Tin Man met The Wizard of Oz he realised that he'd always had a heart. As Venus moves into Gemini, we needn't worry about feelings being rationalised into insignificance. We can make smarter choices about how to focus our affections. And having the intelligence to analyse our emotions doesn't make us less compassionate. It makes us more able to say what we feel... and mean what we say.

Fake News

In the art world, skill isn't the only quality that defines value. Notoriety and authenticity also affect the price. A well-forged fake can be indistinguishable from the work of a revered master, but the revelation that a piece isn't the real thing brings an instant drop in its value, irrespective of its beauty. As Neptune slows in the sky to turn retrograde, it shatters illusions and reveals the transparency of the emperor's clothes. Fortunately, as Mars and Saturn prepare to align, effort will bring its own reward.

Your Weekly Horoscope

I've lost some lockdown weight recently, and this week, with Neptune standing still, and Jupiter linking with the New Moon, Venus and Mercury, it might be time for an elasticated waistband: expect big dollops of emotion, and generous helpings of creativity garnished with side orders of increased wisdom. While the cosmic effects might feel a bit overwhelming, by thinking on our feet, we can avoid indulging in excess. This celestial smorgasbord offers experiences of new tastes, and encourages hearts to grow in a healthy way.
