PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

January 31 2022 to February 6 2022

Monday January 31

Year of the Water Tiger

Tonight, while the Moon is dark, fireworks will light up the skies as the Chinese year of the Water Tiger begins. If you discount dragons, tigers are Asia's top predators and are seen as symbols of great strength and courage. I'm no expert in Chinese astrology, but I believe that the confident and unpredictable Tiger characteristic is refined by the element of Water and has a greater ability to learn and improvise while leading from the front. As Mercury spends its last week retrograde, that could come in handy!

Happy Lunar New Year

Being lunar-based, Chinese New Year falls differently each year. According to tradition, it's a juncture that sets a precedent for the next 12 months... so perhaps it's appropriate that it lands on Harry Styles' birthday this year. After all, Harry's something of a trendsetter! And with Venus finally moving forwards, while the New Moon encourages a fresh approach, style is on the agenda. Although change is much needed, Saturn's influence suggests it's best achieved by giving important traditions an exciting twist.

Wednesday February 2

Groundhog Day

As a furry-faced critter regularly turned to for predictions, I empathise with the groundhog. And some would argue that trying to understand my musings is like expecting a straight answer about the changing seasons from a rodent! But while I await my biopic starring Bill Murray to be green-lit, at least I'm not experiencing the same day on repeat. Although Saturn's link with the New Moon suggests there are limits to how far change can go, there's genuine excitement about the new directions we can take.

Thursday February 3

It's My Party

More Sally Fisher Art here.

Recent UK headlines have been dominated by lockdown parties and raised questions about how seriously people take their responsibilities. But with the Sun and Saturn's convergence now peaking, opportunities to reclaim authority are appearing. Meanwhile, as Mercury's retrogradation finishes, it's time to consolidate ideas, review notes, and put lessons learned into practice. Something must end to ensure enough commitment can be made for plans to work. But with fewer distractions, real success can be achieved.

Friday February 4

Super Bold

My son loves watching old Super Bowl halftime shows on YouTube. We'd been looking forward to a new one this weekend, but I've only just realised that, to accommodate more games, the Super Bowl has been pushed back. While our disappointment is the latest consequence of Mercury retrograde, hopefully it's the last! But better to find out now than plan the weekend around non-existent events. With Mercury turning direct today, it's time to use what's been learned to do better. Meanwhile the Sun and Saturn's convergence imbues leadership with more authority.

Saturday February 5

Your Weekly Horoscope

More Sally Fisher Art here.

When people in positions of responsibility issue statements about wanting to 'shake things up' they don't want anything to threaten their own positions. It's important that any solutions created from the ground up don't destabilise the foundations upon which their success depends. This week, as Mars trines Uranus, risks taken must be carefully measured. But the depth of knowledge inspired by newly direct Mercury's third meeting with Pluto suggests that plans can emerge that create exciting, sustainable change.
