PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

May 8 2023 to May 14 2023

Monday May 8

Relax!

Following the weekend's royal pomp and ceremony, the coming days are less action-packed. Between last Friday's Eclipse and Jupiter's big move into Taurus next week, it's a quieter period astrologically speaking too. But there's a difference between enjoying some much-needed 'R 'n' R' and resting on our laurels. As Venus moves into Cancer, the skies encourage us to be kind to ourselves. If that means indulging and relaxing this Bank Holiday, that's fine by me! It's battery-recharging time.

Collisions with the Future

'Life is a series of collisions with the future, it is not the sum of what we've been, but what we yearn to be'. So said Spanish philosopher Jose Ortega y Gasset, born 140 years ago today. With the Sun, representing goals and aspirations, meeting Uranus, the planet of progress, it feels like an appropriate message. Following last weekend's Eclipse, realisations about what needs to change are reframing visions of the future. It's time to embrace the past and strive to be different, better and bolder.

Wednesday May 10

Strictly Dancing

Yesterday, we talked about appreciating the past and recognising when it's time to evolve. It's not an easy balance to strike - we may need to channel the spirit of Fred Astaire (born on this day) to find the blend of courage, dexterity and grace required to tread that fine line. Although dancing requires commitment and hard work, it's creative and fun. As Venus (creativity) links with innovative Uranus, if we turn our attention to doing what we love, we can make enjoyable progress too.

Thursday May 11

Playing the Triangle

Engineers consider triangles among the strongest shapes to build with. Astrologers feel similarly about trines. As Mercury slows towards the end of its retrograde period, it forms a 'Minor Grand Trine' with secure Saturn and loving Venus. On astrological charts, this looks like an isosceles triangle. Although this alignment isn't as structurally sound as a full 'Grand Trine', it offers encouraging support. It suggests we can deliver messages we've struggled to articulate and access the help we need.

Friday May 12

Mercury on the Turn

They say that 'successful negotiation' occurs when both sides get what they want (yet neither are particularly happy)! This weekend, as Mercury nears the end of its retrograde motion, breakdowns in communication can be readdressed. Which is positive news on Florence Nightingale's birthday - especially given recent industrial action by UK nurses! Mercury's links with Venus and Saturn encourage cooperation and appreciation. It's through working in harmony that long-term agreements will flourish.

Your Weekly Horoscope

The ramifications of lucky Jupiter's change of signs are positive and long-lasting. Its arrival in earthy Taurus this week, where it links with dynamic Mars and mysterious Pluto, shakes things up in exciting ways. Think expanding resources and hidden opportunities. But it's not the only beneficial cosmic influence. With Mercury (communication and intellect) turning direct, if the seeds of small ideas are nourished with faith and positivity, they can grow into splendid, strong, transformative realities.
