Blocked-up windows
I am visiting Llandudno – which I have always thought of as my second home. I return to a room which I remember staying in many times before. In the past, the room had the bed against one wall, and I could lie there, looking out of the windows on the other three walls. Each window gave a different view of the sea. On this occasion, though, all three windows have been blocked up. I can’t understand why anyone would want to obscure such a wonderful outlook.

Dear Kerry,
You write that you are about to be married. Since the magnificent view is from the bed, the dream could be expressing apprehension about your forthcoming marriage – pre-wedding nerves. The room in Llandudno is connected with your memories of life as a little girl. Marriage is often perceived as the ultimate step into adulthood. Could those blocked-up windows imply a secret concern that life as a married woman or wife will take away some of your freedom? You do not tell me whether you have misgivings in this respect, but you do mention that you will soon be starting a teacher-training course about which you have doubts. The dream could, then, be more of a comment on your choice of career. What were the expectations for yourself that you had as a girl? How do they compare with your present reality? Your dream suggests that a perspective on life which was a source of great pleasure has now disappeared. If that blocked-up view reflects your feelings about the prospect of a becoming a teacher, you may need to reconsider your future.
