Mystery in the Cathedral I am walking past the local Cathedral, which is under repair, when I meet priest. He tells me to climb the scaffolding and clean out the guttering. There, under leaves, I come across some very old metal objects and put them into my pockets. Then I am back on the ground and the same priest leads me to a courtyard that contains some valuable artefacts. These are not normally on view to the public, but today is an open day in the Cathedral so the priest asks me to keep watch over them. Later, as I walk home, I excitedly examine my finds from the guttering. They are extremely beautiful and I feel very important because I have found treasures that no one else knew existed. I intend to return them, but just for now I want to enjoy feeling that they are mine alone. Daphne, Surbiton Dear Daphne, Most dreams tell us something about ourselves that we are unaware of, but need to know. Dreams like this one, though, have an entirely different function and cannot be analysed in the usual way. In its original form it was, unfortunately, too long to reproduce in full. Yet even in this edited version, we can see that it’s a fine example of an inspirational dream, a pure gift from your subconscious mind. You tell me that you’ve always wanted to be a writer, but suffer from writer’s block. This began years ago, when a teacher told you that you’d never achieve your ambition because you knew nothing, and consequently had nothing to write about. The dream is urging you to prove your teacher wrong. It is not just encouraging you to get creative - it seems to be actually suggesting a plot for a story. Your discovery of treasures in the guttering is part of the plot, but may also have further, subtler implications. It could be showing you that inspiration is not necessarily the result of knowing a lot, as your teacher believed. What’s more important is the ability to see the extraordinary possibilities that lie hidden within ordinary, everyday things. The priest, who evidently realises this, plays a dual role. He initiates the action of the story, but he also personifies a helpful, masculine side of you that wants to help you to explore your unique gifts. It’s time for you to start following your dream. ![]() (Sun Taurus, Moon Scorpio)
