Doing handstands
I keep dreaming that I am trying to do handstands. There are always people about and I feel that I am trying to impress them. But I just can't seem to keep my balance. I also have another recurring dream in which people come to my house during the night. I get up out of bed and try to lock the doors and windows to stop them from getting in. They are pulling at the windows and doors and I feel frightened. Am I just nuts!!!

Caroline

Dear Caroline,
To dream of your house is to dream about the person you feel you truly are.

The events in your second dream suggest you are trying hard to protect the image you have of yourself from being disturbed by anything new or unfamiliar. One part of you, however, is equally determined to remain open to outside influences.

Your dream seems to be asking you to stop treating some genuine, deep inner need as an intruder and, instead, to wake up to something that you secretly want to do, or be. It’s time to relax some rigid boundaries you have set for yourself, symbolised by those locked doors and windows. The more you insist on protecting these defences, the more threatening the adventurous side of your nature will seem. You tell me that you are a housewife with two children and that you have a good lifestyle and, in general, a very happy life. Yet the first dream indicates that, deep down, you feel almost a little too grounded.

You would like to try looking at a life from a different perspective and make more of an impact on others. At the same time, though, you harbour doubts about your ability to live up to your own expectations.

The dreams are a message that you need create a better balance in your life. They are encouraging you to be more open to new possibilities and new experiences.
