Over-priced hotel room I am watching people come and go through the revolving door of a smart hotel in a city to which I must return the following day. On impulse, I decide to inquire about overnight accommodation. I am shown a tiny room with crumbling walls, a hastily remade bed, an empty champagne bottle and ice bucket, and I am quoted an exorbitant rate. I tell the receptionist that I would rather face the long journey to and from home than stay in such an unpleasant place. Then I leave. Brian, Warwick
Dear Brian
Superficially, this seems attractive, to others as well as yourself. Further exploration, though, reveals that it is not what it seems. Those crumbling walls suggest decay, whilst the bed and the empty bottle have sexual implications. This makes me wonder whether the dream is warning you against a relationship that is currently tempting you. If so, the message is that you are being asked to pay too high a price for something that has no future.
Alternatively, your dream could reflect a changing attitude to relationships in general. Have you, until now, been more interested in seductive, temporary liaisons than in commitment? Your dream may imply that this way of life no longer seems worthwhile. Subconsciously, at least, you would prefer some home comforts.
Whatever the exact meaning, your dream suggests that something, somewhere in your life is being terribly overrated.
