Dear Sarah Last May I dreamed I had gone to the cinema with my husband; we entered in the dark and when the lights went up I found we were sitting apart, with the aisle running between us. We tried to change our seats, but could only get seats numbered 30 and 32 – still apart. My husband had been ill for years and at that time was being treated in hospital following a heart attack. Although I didn’t feel distressed, my interpretation of the dream was that we would not be together again, but I could not work out the logic of the numbers. His health became worse and I retired from work on July 12, my 60th birthday, to look after him at home. When he died, on October 18, I was able to interpret the numbers 30 and 32. My birthday, July 12, and the date of his death, October 18, equals 30. His birthday, May 14, and the date of his death equals 32. I feel I was being prepared by some means for his death, although at no stage was I distressed by this dream or its eventual interpretation. Janet, Swinden Dear Janet, As you intuitively understood, dreams almost always depict forthcoming death symbolically rather than literally. Because the unconscious mind is fascinated by the symbolism of numbers, they often feature in dreams as an alternative language rather like a code. To break this code, you had to take an objective perspective which, in turn, helped you to face the inevitable. Thank you for sharing with us this remarkable dream. ![]() (Sun Taurus, Moon Scorpio)
