Dear Sarah Although my Grandfather has been dead for fifteen years, he has twice told me in dreams of things that will happen in the future. In the first dream, he gave me a string of pearls for my 21st, and told me he was very proud of me. The next day, I received an identical string of pearls from my aunt, his daughter, in an identical box. The second dream occurred more recently. After several early miscarriages, I had been told that I would need a lot of medical intervention in order to carry a baby beyond the first few weeks. I dreamt I was miscarrying again, but I heard my Grandfather say "Don't worry, this is only an angel's parachute." The next month, I found I was pregnant, despite using contraception, and this little angel is due any day now. So I have no doubt that dreams can sometimes reveal what is going to happen in the future. Johanna Dear Johanna, Dreams that predict future events are relatively uncommon. Those that carry a message from a deceased relative or friend are also rare. Dreams like yours, though, that combine both of these elements are quite exceptional. They are impossible to interpret in the usual way, but invite us instead to consider what happens to our consciousness when we die. Your dreams suggest that whilst your grandfather no longer inhabits a physical body, his consciousness remains active in another dimension and uses your dreams in order to make contact with you, in wonderfully symbolic language.
