Spread-eagled on roof Although I don’t usually remember dreams, I have had this one twice. I am spread-eagled on my back, head down on a sloping roof. The sky is dark but the windows below are brightly lit. Even though there are people passing to and fro, nobody notices me. I cannot signal to attract attention. I am slowly slipping downward. Far below me is a road full of traffic. My fingers and heels ache with the strain of trying to stop the downward slide. Then I wake up. Mary W, Farnborough
Dear Mary
You are in your sixties, you have having to deal with this upheaval on your own and you are coping with money problems. These are all factors which create further pressure. No wonder you see yourself, in this dream, as having been turned upside down. Under the circumstances it would be strange if you were not feeling vulnerable and only just able to hang on by your fingertips. This classic anxiety dream clearly indicates a fear of losing your grip. You should find that you automatically stop having it once your situation improves. I am, however, concerned that you feel invisible and apparently unable to ask for help. Is there really nobody you can turn to?
Please do not let your pride prevent you from seeking the support you so clearly need and deserve at the moment.
