Welcome to John Michell, a best-selling author and world authority on the mysteries of existence. John writes regular weekly articles for my page in the Daily Mirror newspaper. Now those articles can be read on this site. It is a thrill to have John writing for us about unexplained phenomena. I have been an admirer of his work since I was a teenager. I hope you enjoy his thought-provoking work. Jonathan Cainer

No. 4 Visions of the luminous lady
Records going back hundreds of years
tell of a beautiful, radiant woman who appears from time to time at
places all over the world.
In Christian countries she is called the Virgin Mary. Others have seen
her as a pagan goddess or a visitor from space.
Some of these sightings are recent and well witnessed. In 1981 the woman
appeared to a group of teenagers at Medjugorje in Croatia. She spoke
kindly and allowed them to touch her. The news spread, and large crowds
gathered day after day. Many people saw the figure, heard her speak
and were filled with religious ecstasy.
The Church investigated, and so did the communist authorities of the
time. They came to a rare agreement. This was no trick or delusion,
and there was no rational explanation for it. It could only be called
a miracle.
In several such cases, the woman claimed to be the Mother of God. That
is a title of the Virgin Mary, but it has an older, wider meaning. The
Eternal Virgin, whose esoteric number is the mysterious 7, is the spirit
that existed before the world began. It is the spirit behind prophecy
and intuition. The Virgin is appearing more and more often these days,
and I am not surprised. As the ancients knew, the spirit in the earth
gives warnings of troubles to come. That is what you would expect her
to be doing right now. She also offers guidance, and that might be worth
listening to.
