Power for Leo They say that eventually, "we become like the company we keep." Perhaps this is why you have lately been experiencing a loss of power. Some of your friends and companions are currently rather weak. When you are surrounded by people who feel daunted or intimidated, it is easy to pick up on their mood. You start to identify with their fears. Before you know it, you have narrowed your horizons and downsized your expectations. Your life is then full of "reasons why you can't" instead of "reasons why you can." You have been, in 2001, extremely conscious of the roles that other people expect you to play and very aware too, of your responsibilities. All this has sapped your strength a little and reduced your ability to live out your full potential. This year, you still have a heavy workload and you still find yourself obliged to be dutiful towards a needy person. You also still find yourself surrounded by comparatively conservative and unimaginative folk. Yet the further we get into 2002, the less we find any of this posing a problem to you. Jupiter is heading for your sign. Once it gets there, you start to break free of your shackles, rather like the Incredible Hulk used to burst out of his weak alter-ego's body. You won't (hopefully) turn green but you may well have this effect on others. Money for Leo It should, in theory, be simple. You sit still and smile. The rest of the world, mesmerised by the radiant charm of your personality, finds itself compulsively drawn towards you. It comes bearing gifts, waving job opportunities and vying for the chance to ensure your full, future financial security. In reality, it is not always quite like this. There have been times, when you have found yourself obliged to work for a living and even to do so under circumstances that do not entirely please you. The universe has noticed this and it disapproves. It feels that you, as a Leo, were born to give orders not to take them. Likewise, it is as sure as you are that your natural role in life is to be a high earner and an equally high spender. Sadly, what with all the recent trouble in the world, the universe has had other things on its mind and thus it has had to delay the instigation of a rescue package that it has long had planned for you. You may, indeed, have to wait several more months yet before this is finally implemented. Nonetheless, you can see Jupiter's arrival in your sign, early in August, as a clear indication that the cavalry is at last on its way. Overview for Leo Day and night are inextricably linked. You simply cannot have one without eventually getting the other. If we wish to understand them, we must see them as the two sides of one coin. The coin has an upside - and a downside. In this respect, it is the same as countless other coins that go to make up the currency of experience, here on planet earth. What goes up, must come down. What gets hot, must get cold. What gets sad, must grow happy - and vice versa. Contrasting extremes don't just exist within diametric opposites. There are extremes, even in each of those extremes. It is, for example, generally considered undesirable to be lonely. Companionship though, involves relationship. And relationship, as we all know, can be exceedingly stressful. We can end up extremely happy within a partnership - or extremely unhappy. Just as we can end up extremely delighted to be single or totally miserable about it. As with love, so with money - and power and, indeed, pretty much anything that a human being can ever hope for - or seek - or strive towards - or acquire, only to wonder afterwards whether it was a good idea. There are, believe it or not, lottery winners who realise in retrospect that their life was actually happier when they were poor. There are too, highly-successful individuals who feel trapped within the fur-lined hamster wheel of their day to day existence. And now, with this point not so much made - or even laboured - as hammered relentlessly home, we turn our attention to your year ahead. What does it contain? What would you like it to contain? And are you truly sure that you know the answer to this? Much will prove possible for you in 2002. There's no need to fear deprivation - or even, particularly, limitation. The angel of abundance is looking over your shoulder. The "reward fairy" is fluttering around you, almost every day. But if, perchance, you end up attaining too much of the wrong sort of thing, you'll feel no gratitude for your gifts. You will resent your attainments and regret the choices that led you to them. This is why, in 2002, what's truly essential is that you strive for the most rare and wondrous cosmic gift of all. Discrimination. For if you truly have that, you have the seed of everything else you require. And then, all you have to do is water it with a little effort and determination.
